Under “Science and blood of martyrs guarantee success” the Lebanese French University in Erbil held its graduation ceremony for 2015-2016 academic year.
One of those remembered and mourned is a student who was also a Peshmerga and was killed fighting ISIS.
Lt. Col. Serbast Gullan from the Peshmerga Zeravani forces was studying for his administration and accountancy degree at the LFU university.
Receiving the diploma was one of his dreams. But his death came before he could graduate.
His son mounted the state to accept his father’s certificate, as the audience rose to its feet in applause. He promised he will accomplish his father’s mission.
“I promised my father and said to him, dad, I will study at your university and will graduate in administration and accountancy. He was happy with that,” said Sana Serbast, son of the martyred soldier.
Serbast couldn’t get the grades he wanted because of his work on the fronts. His friends admire the cause he fought for.
Two other students from this university have died fighting ISIS.
There are no figures on the total number of students who have died fighting this enemy.
