ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) of Ukraine opened an office in Erbil on Wednesday, with hopes to expand across the country.
“We will start registering our organization officially in Iraq, under Iraqi law, and we’re planning to open our offices in Baghdad and other provinces,” Emad Ballack, the official representative for Ukraine said in a press conference attended by Rudaw.
Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw and Sulaimani Governor Haval Abubakir were present at the opening ceremony, according to the ICC Ukraine’s Twitter account.
The President of the Erbil Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Dara Jalil Khayat, and a number of diplomats and business figures were also present.
“As the merchants of peace, it is out pride to promote and strengthen the international trade relations and cooperation between Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and Ukraine and the international partners,” Ballack added.
The ICC acts as the institutional representative of more than 45 million companies in over 100 countries, promoting international trade, economic growth and sustainable growth.
Adil Al-Masudi, from Iraq’s Ministry of Trade, voiced enthusiasm at the opening ceremony.
“We are willing to open other branches in Baghdad,” he said, adding that the ministry is ready to provide all the assistance needed.
