ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Two perpetrators of the attack on the Rudaw Media Network building in Erbil were arrested at 2:30am last night by the Kurdish security forces, according to information provided to Rudaw by the Interior Ministry.
Rudaw has delayed the release of the information since the investigation remains ongoing.
Today after some local organization released this news Rudaw is officially releasing information provided to us by the Interior Ministry.
The Interior Ministry told Rudaw that the arrested men claimed they carried out the attack under orders from the Islamic State (ISIS) militants. ISIS previously claimed responsibility for the attack on their Twitter accounts.
At 12:05 am on June 25 a grenade was thrown out the window of a car traveling on Erbil’s Runaki Street at the front of the Rudaw Media Network building injuring total of five people – three of whom were security guards along with a PR department employee and a driver.
Additionally Rudaw would like to thank everyone who has helped with this operation and would like to repeat its appreciation for the messages of sympathy which we have received from the people of Kurdistan, from political leaders, international governments and local and international organizations.
