ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – A flight out of Erbil made an emergency return to the airport soon after takeoff because of bird strike.
“An Iraqi Airways plane took off from Erbil International Airport to Najaf on Sunday at 10:07 am, but was forced to come back after a few minutes to Erbil after a bird had collided with it in the skies of Erbil,” said Talar Faiq, general director of the airport.
There were 100 passengers onboard flight IA 916, including two children, she added.
There were no injuries.
