ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – A warehouse storing coal for shisha pipes has caught fire in Erbil. It is the third serious fire in the province in as many days.

The fire broke out around 2 p.m. on Monday afternoon but firefighters are still at the scene trying to bring the flames under control

A man claiming to be the warehouse owner told Rudaw he has lost $40,000-$50,000 as a result of the fire. He alleges it was started deliberately by arsonists.

Monday’s inferno follows a similar blaze on Saturday evening, when Erbil’s main bazaar suffered a serious fire, thought to have been caused by an electrical fault. On Sunday, an arms depot in the town of Kani Qirzhala, just outside Erbil, also caught fire.
