French forces and coalition jets launched airstrikes on an Islamic State training camp in the Syrian town of Manbij, located 50 miles (90 kilometers) northeast of Aleppo, on February 1, according to the French air force.
The coalition attack came as Syrian government forces, backed by Russian airstrikes, conducted a fierce offensive on several towns north of Aleppo, aiming to cut off rebel supply routes leading into the city.
