ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — Syrian state media’s claims of four US soldiers being killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) in the northern province of Hasaka are false, the US-led Coalition spokesperson said late Sunday.

“The report of @CJTFOIR service members [killed in action] KIA in Syria today is false. All @CJTFOIR service members have been accounted for,” tweeted Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR) Spokesman Col. Wayne Marotto, using the abbreviation for US-led Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh (ISIS).

Official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported on Sunday that four US soldiers were killed when an explosive device targeted their vehicle in the countryside of the town of Markada.
