ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — Turkish anti-terrorism units have arrested 12 Islamic State (ISIS) suspects in Istanbul, state media reported on Friday.

“Anti-terror units reportedly found that the suspects transferred revenues to terrorists in conflict zones and simultaneously raided 12 locations in eight districts of the metropolis Istanbul, arresting 12,” said Anadolu Agency.

“Digital and organizational documents” were found by security forces during the raids, Anadolu added.

Turkey is a member of the multinational Global Coalition Against Daesh (ISIS), formed when ISIS took control of swathes of Syrian and Iraqi territory in 2014.

Numerous ISIS members have been found in Turkey.

Turkey has been accused of financial and military support of ISIS, according to a report from a former UN advisor, conduct Ankara has denied.

A Yazidi girl taken captive in 2014 was rescued during a raid in the Turkish capital Ankara in February. Police said that one of her captors was said to be a senior ISIS member from Iraq.

Several other Yazidi children have been found with ISIS-linked families in Turkey.
