A suicide bomb attack at Istanbul's historic Sultanahmet Square on Tuesday killed at least 10 people and wounded 15 others, including six Germans.
In a televised address Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the bombing was carried out by a suicide bomber of Syrian origin.
According to Hurriyet Daily News Turkish authorities believe the Islamic State (ISIS) is behind the bombing.
“I condemn the terror incident in Istanbul assessed to be an attack by a suicide bomber with Syrian origin. Unfortunately we have 10 dead including foreigners and Turkish nationals... There are also 15 wounded," said Erdogan according to Reuters.
The spokesman for his Justice and Development Party (AKP) tweeted the party's condolences saying, "May God rest the victims' souls."
The co-leader of the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), Selahattin Demirtas offered his condolences to the families of those lost in the "brutal massacre."
"We condemn the massacre in Sultanahmet," Demirtas said to a meeting of his fellow party members.
