ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - At least 14 people died on Friday when their inflatable boat sank near Turkey's western resort city Bodrum, according to the Mugla governor's office. At least two people survived.
“The lifeless bodies of 14 irregular migrants were recovered,” the governor’s office said on X.
According to one of the survivors, 18 people had been on board the boat, it added. Two people are still missing.
The identities or nationalities of the victims have not been released.
Bodrum is located close to the Greek island of Kos. The route is a popular one for people trying to reach Europe.
