SIRNAK, Turkey - Tennis players from eight countries competed in the second Cudi Cup tournament held in Turkey’s southeast Kurdish province of Sirnak this week.
The five-day competition held at the foot of Mount Cudi ended on Friday.
Turkish players took home the top prizes. Ayse Bal won the women’s singles and Cagan Cetin won in the men’s.
"I was champion in singles and doubles. The players were also very successful. It was very well organized," Bal told Rudaw.
The mayor of Sirnak Mehmet Yarka told Rudaw that for the third edition of the competition next year, in addition to tennis matches, they will organize music concerts.
The international tennis event drew praise from locals in Sirnak, hoping the Cudi Cup will grow in popularity.
Sixty-six tennis players from Germany, Britain, France, Italy, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, and India participated, as well as hosts Turkey.
