France closed its borders, but the territory to be covered is so enormous that it has requested the help of neighbors, like Belgium.
The mayor of Erquelinnes, requested by the mayor of the French municipality of Jeumont, decided to act on the measure.
It took a police regulation to block the traffic in about 10 streets by means of concrete blocks.
Streets allowing a direct access between France and Belgium were impossible to watch 24 hours a day.
As a consequence, the number of French who came to shop on the Belgian side has fallen, and local businesses suffer.
