LOS ANGELES, United States - Volunteers have come to areas affected by the fires in Los Angeles.

Dan Rue leads a team of volunteers.

"Basically, this started from some influencers like myself, but the food truck vendors, they all have big TikToks, and my friend Alan G. I just showed up, and I showed up Saturday, and it blew up,” he told Rudaw.

More than 12,000 homes burned down and thousands of people were made homeless. Those whose homes did not burn cannot return to their homes for safety reasons, as there is a risk of fire breaking out again.

Jannet A. lost her home.

“My house burned down. I learned about it from my niece and nephew when they went to check on my sister's home, which also burned down. We're videotaping as they came to my neighborhood, my street, and you could hear their gas as they came down the street and saw how it was completely burned down, except for one house right next door to me. All that's left is a chimney for me and some walls,” she said.

The Los Angeles fire started on January 7. The cause is still unknown.

The blaze has killed 27 people, destroyed 12,300 structures, and burned around 63 square miles, including the Palisades, Eaton, Kenneth, and Hurst neighborhoods.

The homes that did not burn are being protected from looting by soldiers and police.
