DENVER, USA - German automaker Volkswagen has offered $1,000 in cash and credit to American owners of vehicles now known to be equipped with “defeat devices” that cheat emissions tests.
Nearly half a million Americans are affected by the scandal that has rocked the automobile world — some of them accepted VW’s offer of money this week, but many say they will refuse anything less than a full refund for their cars.
But most customers are still fuming over the exhaust fumes.
