BERLIN, Germany - A man was injured in an apparent stabbing at Berlin's Holocaust memorial, police spokesman said on Friday. A suspect has been arrested.
"We have one male victim - only one male victim," Berlin police spokesman Florian Nath, told Rudaw during a press conference, adding that the age of the victim is unknown at this time.
Berlin police said in a statement that the incident took place at 6 pm local time.
The circumstances remain unclear but it is believed to have been a stabbing.
"First priority was to transport the victim to the hospital and the victim is being treated at the hospital at this moment," the police spokesperson told Rudaw.
The incident was reported to have occurred on the northern side of the expansive Holocaust memorial, near the United States embassy.
The police spokesman said in a separate press conference that they had arrested a suspect at 8:45 pm local time.
He told Rudaw that details about the suspect have yet to be known, noting that the male suspect was arrest at the perimeter of the memorial.
