WASHINGTON—The Libertarian Party in the United States is 44 years old and is just this year shaking up the US political scene, making an unprecedented rise in the country's politics long dominated by two major parties.

Its candidate, Gary Johnson, has received the support of 10-13% of American voters, according to recent polls. He needs to achieve an average 15% in order to be allowed to appear on the debate stage with the two main contenders: Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump.

In this exclusive interview, Arvin Vohra, vice chair of the Libertarian National Committee, talks to Rudaw about the worldview and agendas of the Libertarian Party on both domestic and foreign issues.
