Mourners attend the funeral of Mam Jalal Talabani

Kurdish and Iraqi leaders and the public visited the grave of Jalal Talabani on Sunday, bringing flowers to pay tribute to the man affectionately called Mam Jalal. On Saturday, the former Iraqi president and leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) was laid to rest near his home on Sulaimani’s Dabashan hill.

Talabani passed away at the age of 83 in Berlin, Germany on October 3, eight days after the Kurdistan Region overwhelmingly voted for independence in a referendum.
