ERBIL, Kurdistan Region--A Turkish police report reveals that recent clashes between the army and the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) have displaced 100,000 people.

The flash-points of these clashes are Cizre and Silopi in Sirnak, Dargecit and Nusaybin in Mardin and Sur in Diyarbakir.

The police report added that operations are ongoing to "clean" the PKK away from these areas.

In addition to this 1.3 million have been affected by Turkish military and police curfews in areas where Ankara and the PKK are fighting out their battle.

The Sur district of Diyarbakir has been under siege for almost three weeks.

Human rights organizations believe that at least 100 civilians have been killed in the recent clashes and many more injured.

Ankara announced last week that it has sent thousands of troops backed by tanks and helicopters to the region.

A nation-wide warning issued by the Turkish police claimed the PKK was trying to spread the war from the southeastern towns to the bigger cities.

Meanwhile, answering a call from Kurdish MPs and leaders of the Peoples Democratic People (HDP) thousands took to the streets of Diyarbakir this week to protest the siege of Sur and the army operations.
