UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon met Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif at the United Nations on Wednesday on the heels of the 68th meeting of the United Nations General Assembly.
The two leaders discussed the developing situation in Syria, and the on-going issue of Iran's nuclear ambitions.
Ban also welcomed the positive remarks made by Iran's newly elected President last week during the UNGA.
During the meeting of world leaders, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called for an opening up of dialogue between Iran and the West.
