ERBIL,Kurdistan Region - A dent occurred in a tunnel in the Kurdish province of Van, southeast Turkey (Bakur) late Friday, leading to the death of two workers and the injury of another. The tunnel is under construction, reported state media.
The incident took place in the last part of the tunnel which is located on Van-Hakkari highway. Cemil Diyapoglu, who was injured and later rescued from the rubble and taken to a hospital, recounted the collapse to the Anadolu Agency (AA).
Diyapoglu said that soil and stones fell on him when he tried to save his friends.
The cause of the collapse, which killed two workers, is not clear.
A large number of rescue teams were deployed to the incident area to save those who fell under rubble.
