KYIV, Ukraine - Multiple missiles landed in central Kyiv on Saturday afternoon, injuring one person and sending locals rushing to their homes.
Security forces cordoned off the area shortly after the missiles hit several buildings.
The renewed attacks on Kyiv come as people in the war-torn country are preparing to welcome the new year.
Rudaw's correspondent Dilniya Rahman said air raid sirens rang out across Kyiv early in the morning, warning people to stay away and take shelter in their homes.
The recent wave missiles come as the Ukrainian capital city came under similar missile attacks on Thursday as Russia fired scores of projectiles into Kyiv, Lviv, and Odessa.
"Senseless barbarism," Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba wrote on Thursday about the day's missile attacks.
"These are the only words that come to mind seeing Russia launch another missile barrage at peaceful Ukrainian cities ahead of New Year. There can be no ‘neutrality’ in the face of such mass war crimes. Pretending to be ‘neutral’ equals taking Russia’s side," Kuleba continued to slam Moscow over the attacks.
Ukraine has seen a wave of Russian air strikes in recent months hitting the country's energy plants and infrastructure, a dangerous development that has left a myriad of people without power at this cold time of the year.
