ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Companies from 13 countries gathered in Baghdad on Thursday for the launch of the Iraq International Real Estate and Investment Exhibition, showcasing advanced and modern designs.

More than 100 local and international companies, including over 10 from the Kurdistan Region, are attending the four-day fair. A number of Kurdish companies are also official sponsors of the investment exhibition.

"We had a distinguished participation from the Region, such as Erbil Hills Company, PC Company, and Empire Company, the platinum sponsors of the exhibition, with participation also by Iraqi companies, and sponsors such as Ramla and Bayti, who were also the platinum sponsors of the exhibition," Shahd Saleh, representative of the exhibition's organizers, told Rudaw's Anmar Ghazi.

Real estate companies at the fair are hoping to encourage investment in Iraq, which is still rebuilding after the conflict with the Islamic State (ISIS) group.

"Certainly, in the coming years, the exhibition will be better, because Iraq today is witnessing a reconstruction movement, and there are many investments, and God willing, in the coming year, we will see participation from all foreign and European companies and all international companies," said Muhammad Abdul-Jabbar, sales manager of the Cani Casa Residential Project.

According to data from the Kurdistan Region's chamber of commerce, real estate makes up one-third of all investment in the Region where more than 5,800 real estate companies and offices operate.
