We condemn the assassination of our colleague Dr Husham al-Hashimi.

Unfortunately, Iraqi political and security analyst Husham al-Hashimi was assassinated in Baghdad on the evening of July 6, 2020.

Hashimi was a colleague of Rudaw Media Network. Last month, he signed a written contract with Rudaw to write weekly articles, some of which have been published.

Rudaw considered it important to publish Dr Husham al-Hashimi's take on Iraqi security and politics in Kurdish and English, in addition to Arabic.

We express condolences to his family and Iraqi analysts and intellectuals, and call on the Iraqi government to find the perpetrators and hold them accountable.
